- Abstract
A literary criticism of the novel "Les Liaisons Dangereuses," by Choderlos de Laclos is presented. Particular focus is given to critique of 18th century French military reform presented in the work. The language used by the characters the marquise de Merteuil and the vicomte de Valmont is examined and the seductions depicted in the book are compared to military tactics and sieges. De Laclos' personal military experience is also discussed.
