- Abstract
In this study, it has been investigated the combustion properties of 3 ply laminated veneer lumber (LVL), which was produced from Calabrian pine (Pinus brutia Ten.) impregnated with sodium perborat, sodium tetra borate, immersol (I-WR 2000) and tanalith-CBC (T-CBC) by using the dipping. Prepared veneers have been bonded with poly vinyl-acetate (PVAc) adhesive for LVL and combustion test was applied according to the procedure of ASTM-E 69 standards. As a result of the test results, 1) Although, T-CBC solution showed the fire retardant characteristic in the first of the combustion stage, its resistance was decrease because of the flame-sourced. 2) Boron compounds have showed the fire retardant characteristic. In conclusion, as the wood material subjects to fire or combustion, especially after processing with sodium tetra borat or I-WR 2000 solutions, the life period of wood material increases.
