- Abstract
An interview with author of "October Afternoon" Paulette Ramsay is presented. When asked how he views the state of Jamaican literature at the nation's 50th year of independence, he said that presently much variety is published by the Jamaican writers. On the role of literature in contemporary Jamaica, he feels that Jamaicans are not reading just for entertainment. Further, he stated that his roles as creative writer, lecturer, and a literary scholar complement each other.
