- Abstract
The article presents an historical overview of the Vivian G. Harsh Collection of Afro-American History and Literature housed in the Carter G. Woodson Regional Library of Chicago, Illinois. Details are given describing Harsh's career as a librarian and her accomplishments in compiling and showcasing cultural exhibits for African Americans during the 1930s. The continued history of her collection, then named the Special Negro Collection held at the Hall Branch Library, after her death into the early 21st century is also mentioned.
