- Abstract
Introducción. La infección por SARS-CoV-2 se extendió rápidamente por todo el mundo y obligó a los proveedores de servicios de salud a capacitar al recurso humano para ofrecer una atención oportuna y de calidad a los pacientes. Asimismo, la comunidad en general debió prepararse para prevenir la infección, reconocer signos y síntomas tempranos y obtener la información necesaria para cuidar a los familiares. Objetivos. Capacitar al personal asistencial, al personal de otras áreas y a la comunidad en general sobre las generalidades del manejo del paciente con COVID-19. Materiales y métodos. Se desarrollaron siete cursos virtuales sobre la atención de pacientes con COVID-19 adaptados a las respectivas especializaciones y al público. El curso orientado a la comunidad general se ajustó a un lenguaje que facilitara la difusión y compresión del mensaje. Los contenidos fueron elaborados por docentes de la Universidad CES a lo largo de tres meses y posteriormente se ofrecieron a través de la plataforma de educación virtual de la universidad (CES VIRTUAL). Resultados. Los siete cursos virtuales tuvieron una participación total de 25.313 personas distribuidas así: en el curso para médicos generales se inscribieron 6.885 profesionales; en el de enfermería, 3.162; en el de fisioterapia y terapia respiratoria, 1.914; en el de auxiliares de enfermería, 5.584; en el dirigido a personal de otras áreas, 849, y en el destinado a la comunidad general, 5.354. Conclusión. Se observó una elevada participación de profesionales de la salud y de la comunidad en general en los cursos de formación en la atención de pacientes con COVID-19 en Medellín durante la fase inicial del inicio de pandemia.
