- Abstract
The article deals with the barriers to post-acute care for patients on opioid agonist therapy. Topics discussed include the prevalence of opioid use disorder in the U.S., the stigma which is considered a major barrier to effective treatment, and the health risks of those with a history of injection drug use (IDU). Also mentioned is the need for the stronger enforcement of the Americans with Disabilities (ADA) laws as they apply to individuals with opioid use disorder.
