- Abstract
The author focuses on the study conducted by A. J. Gawron and colleagues on the prescription and use of the proton-pump inhibitor (PPI) by the U.S. veterans with gastroesophageal reflux disease. The author says that the 23.3% of PPI prescriptions, which were given to veterans within 30 days, were high dose. She adds that the study highlights the need for developing strategies to reevaluate the need for all medications on the medical list of a patient.
