- Abstract
The article explores the concept of animal urbanism, a recent development in today's landscape architecture, which acknowledges and accommodates animal behavior in cities. It cites the examples of Netherlands' Eastern Scheldt Storm Surge Barrier and Canada's Vancouver Convention Center, projects which allow engagement of animals in urban landscape development. Also highlighted, in relation to animal urbanism, is Toronto's initiative to integrate bird behavior in its building guidelines.
