- Abstract
This document is a summary of a special issue of the International Journal of Molecular Sciences titled "Bacterial Toxins and Cancer." The issue explores the relationship between bacterial toxins and cancer initiation and progression, as well as the potential use of bacterial toxins in anti-cancer therapies. The issue includes six research papers and reviews that cover various topics, such as the therapeutic targets for pancreatic cancer, the customization of immunotoxins for tumor selectivity, the anti-tumor effect of a protein toxin from Helicobacter pylori, the potential uses of bacterial AB toxins in cancer therapy, and the role of toxins in the onset and progression of carcinogenesis. The articles highlight the versatility of bacterial toxins, which can act as both carcinogens and anti-cancer agents.
