- Abstract
Examines the neuroprotective potential of the alternatively spliced form of insulin-like growth factor 1 (MGF) and investigates whether the synthetic, stabilized C-terminal peptide of MGF can act autonomously to prevent or at least decrease acute ischemia-evoked neurodegeneration. Role of transient brain ischemia in inducing endogenous expression of MGF; Ability of the synthetic C-terminal MGF peptide to prevent ischemia-evoked neurodegeneration in vivo; Function of the C-terminal MGF peptide as an insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor-independent mechanism.
