- Abstract
The article discusses the humanities and the law in America in relation to then-Oregon Attorney General Dave Frohnmayer's work on the 1990 U.S. Supreme Court religious freedom case Employment Division, Dept. of Human Res. of Oregon v. Smith, and it mentions lawsuits involving the U.S. Constitution's First Amendment and freedom of expression in America. Frohnmayer's efforts to repair Oregon's relationship with Native Americans is examined, along with tribal religious practice laws.
