- Abstract
The article presents a history of the Annual New South Wales Aboriginal Rugby League Knockout Carnival, a yearly football competition involving teams from all over the state. The Knockout is the biggest event of the year for the New South Wales Aboriginal community. It has been run independently since 1971 drawing on a range of private, government and community sponsorship. The aim of the article is to make the simple point that a large number of Aboriginal people have been able to organise a hugely popular and complex event attended by many thousands of people over 36 years.
