- Abstract
The article features the Pentagon Memorial, Virginia in honor of the victims of the September 11, 2001 attack. In 2002, an international design competition for the Pentagon Memorial was announced. The Kaseman Beckman Advanced Strategies (KBAS) was proclaimed as the winner. The memorial was placed adjacent to the point of impact of American Airlines Flight 77. It mentions that there were 184 Memorial Units organized by a timeline based on the range of ages that died at the Pentagon. The memorial units will serve as a permanent place to visit and commemorate the victims of the terrorist attack. It highlights that the memorial units were created through complex procedures which integrated precision modeling, CNC production, and analytical and finishing techniques.
