- Abstract
The article presents different ideas for the future of family medicine by physicians. The ideas range from a weight-loss program to a mandatory interview for new patients and from a group-visit house call to a plan for helping the poor afford primary care. Several themes emerge from the ideas presented by family physicians like ways of capitalizing on the power of the computer and the electronic medical record, and efforts to reverse the trend toward seeing more and more patients per day and to recapture the benefits of the 30-minute visit.
