- Abstract
Renal artery pseudoaneurysms are uncommon vascular lesions that usually require a high degree of suspicion for being difficult to diagnose. Treatment of these lesions is indicated, as spontaneous closure of posttraumatic renal artery pseudoaneurysms is extremely unusual and also because of the high risk of aneurysm rupture. We describe the case of a blunt trauma victim complaining of a pulsatile mass in the right upper quadrant associated with recurrent abdominal pain 18 months after the accident. Arteriography and multislice computed tomography angiography revealed a pseudoaneurysm in the right renal artery measuring 22 cm. The patient was successfully treated by conventional open surgery.
