- Title
Flammability Standard.
- Abstract
The article examines the draft flammability standard for upholstered furniture by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's (CPSC). Glassman-Oliver Economic Consultants Inc. prepared the study for an industry coalition including the American Textile Manufacturers Institute (ATMI), the American Fiber Manufacturers Association (AFMA), the National Cotton Council, the Coalition of Converters of Decorative Fabrics, and the American Society of Interior Designers. The study found out that the CPSC considerably underestimates the cost that the draft proposed regulation will place on the industry of fabric and on customers as well, while significantly overestimating the benefits.
