- Abstract
An essay is presented which focuses on the wartime exile poetry of Saint-John Perse, also known as Alexis Leger. Information is provided on Perse's family and career background of Perse and his travel to the U.S. during World War II. Particular attention is given to the description of the setting in the poem "Exile," the final lines of the poem "Poem to a Foreign Lady," and the American imagery in the poem "Snows."
