- Abstract
The article discusses ways in which the European refugee crisis offers the potential to transform ideas of community as envisioned in the work of several Eastern European artists. Topics covered include a reconsideration of notions of collectivity in light of war's effect in the Balkan region in the 1990s, the implications of collectivity in the social era, the rooting of the collective habitus among artists in Yugoslavia, and ways in which refugee crises are leading to the re-examination of the concept of community. Also mentioned are the works of artists including Nika Autor, Oleg Kulik, and Tanja Ostojic.
