- Abstract
This article provides some stories about Jews in the Western U.S. in 1975. It begins with the observation of Helen R. Schechtman, president of the Tuolumne County Historical Society, on the activities of pioneer Jews in gold rush days. It then notes the need of Laurence Greatman of Lancaster, California, for pictures of the first synagogues in California. It also announces the death of Jewish cowboy Max Cowan of Salt Lake City, Utah. In addition, the article mentions the fiftieth wedding anniversary of Ruth and Hal Axe in June.
