- Abstract
A literary criticism is presented of the 1724 English fictional book "The Reform’d Coquet; Or Memoirs of Amoranda," by Mary Davys. An overview of the novel's depiction of early 18th century middlemen and merchants is provided. The book's portrayal of the economic aspects of marriage, including in regard to the role that marriages played among early 18th century rich people as financial exchanges, is discussed.
