- Title
PUNISHMENT AND REVENGE.
- Authors
Zaibert, Leo
- Abstract
The article discusses the relationship between punishment and revenge. It presents arguments showing the clear distinction between revenge and punishment, such as the views of Gregory Vlastos, Robert Nozick and F. H. Bradley, which describes revenge as mindless and unjustifiable and punishment as rational and justifiable. It examines these arguments and argues that the two terms are not entirely different. It also presents and discusses evidences supporting his claim, which includes works of literature, the Bible, the Oxford English Dictionary and ancient Greek philology.
