- Abstract
The article discusses October 2020 will have marked the 25th anniversary of the award of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry to Frank Sherwood Rowland, Mario J. Molina and Paul J. Crutzen for their work on training and ozone decomposition that demonstrated the fragility of the stratospheric ozone layer. It mentions that Richard Stolarski and Ralph J. Cicerone had shown that free chlorine atoms in the atmosphere can catalytically decompose ozone in a way analogous to nitrogen oxides.
