- Abstract
Presently, history didactics explicitly turn towards epistemological issues. This induces a close look at research methods, which are not only techniques but mostly define and construct research topics and results. Most methodologies used by researchers are those used in social sciences. The present paper discusses some core questions relating to the reliability and efficiency of such methods: the construction of reality by empirical approaches, quantitative or qualitative - and the researchers' implicit premises; the difference between the researchers' point of view and the teachers' or politicians' points of view and the consequential tensions; the difficulties when studying learning on a longitudinal scale and to attain at what is not observable and hard to explain. Those questions about methodologies are questions on the specificities of history didactics in the field of social sciences.
