- Abstract
The European Union as a supranational institution is currently experiencing a crisis at many levels. From economic problems, through difficulties in concluding internal political consensus as well as uniformity in international attitudes, ending with ensuring security on the European continent itself. While in solving political or security problems, the European Union itself must deal with internal problems, then in economic matters there are numbers of countries with whom closer cooperation seems logical to improve the international situation in which the Union has found itself. One of such areas is undoubtedly Southeast Asia in which China plays a key role. Strengthening international cooperation between the EU and China may prove to be a strategic alternative to the European economy. Additionally, such an alliance may be the basis for a broad exchange of educational, business, technological as well as economic experiences. The article presents the areas of cooperation and contemporary economic and environmental ties concerning the European Union and China relating to mutual investments, with a particular emphasis on the context of the New Silk Road.
