- Abstract
The article discusses the effect of adenosine-induced ventricular fibrillation in isolated rabbit hearts. Cardiac catecholamine depletion was induced in 11 rabbit hearts and showed that one of five hearts from 6-hydroxydopamine treated rabbits developed ventricular fibrillation. Results showed that the inhibition of the cardiac adenosine A2 receptor unmasks an adenosine A1 receptor profibrillatory effects dependent upon endogenous cardiac catecholamines.
