- Abstract
Interview and physical-examination data from a sample of Toronto women are used to examine the effect of three types of indicators of the quality of the household environment on mental and physical health. All three types of environmental constraints were found to cause modest decrements in health. Spatial problems appeared to affect only mental health, while housing deficiencies and household problems affected both mental and physical well-being.
