The article offers information on "The Death of Seneca" artwork by Peter Paul Rubens. Topics discussed include death preparation of Lucius Annaeus Seneca, also known as Seneca the Younger, a Hispano-Roman Stoic philosopher, orator, politician and tutor to the Emperor Nero; he transformed into a symbol of Christian suffering and who transcended the shift from pagan to Christian Europe; and the convoluted course of artistic inspiration and the contingency of historical fact.
