- Abstract
The article discusses significant historic events that occurred in the month of July. The author first explains the discovery of Machu Picchu, Peru, the historic ruined city associated with Peru's Inca civilization, by U.S. explorer and Senator Hiram Bingham. He then goes on to examine the accession to the French throne of French King Louis XI. Louis' strong dislike of his father and royal predecessor King Charles VII of France is emphasized. The issuing of the first European banknotes in Sweden by the Bank of Stockholm is examined in conclusion.
