- Abstract
The article focuses on the concept of Inner Light doctrine from the Religious Society of Friends. It discusses the influences that brought changes in doctrinal practice of the society in the modern history featuring its tendencies on self-sufficiency, personal independence, and autonomy. It states that in the medieval period, the church centers on the knowledge and duty regarding the Creator and being a Christian. It discusses Quakerism, a sect in the 17th century, which deals with the competence of man to the spiritual life. It mentions the foundation of the Quaker movement and the assertion of the Inward Light of Christ. It explores the Quaker attitude, which it sums up from John Wilhelm Rountree's passage on the message of Jesus Christ and on the Inward Light doctrine.
