- Abstract
The challenges raised by the integration stage of merger and acquisitions (M&As) operations — between 40% to 60% of M&As fail according to Bauer and Matzler (2014) — lead to the creation of "interface managers" (called boundary spanners in the literature on strategic alliances) taking responsibility for the operational management of post-merger integration. These actors positioned at the borders of the two entities engaged in a merger, are required to manage inter-organizational relationships. In this article, we attempt to identify the roles and influences of interface managers in the postmerger integration process.
