- Abstract
This study aims at introducing the character of the Muslim voyager Abu Dulaf Mis'ar Bin Muhalhal Al-Khazraji in the 10 the (4th H) century. In addition to analyzing the two Risalas (epistles) in which Abu Dulaf docoumented his travelling in the lands of Turks, China, India, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Persia. The study also included an analysis to his methodology, and revealing the valuable information which the two Risalas included in terms of political, economic, and social aspects. Unlike other Muslim voyagers and geographers, Abu Dulaf showed greater concerns about the traditions and religious beliefs of the indigenous inhabitants whom he met in his travels. He also showed interest in their unique archeological features, especially these which belonged to the Sasanie era. Additionally he showed apparent interest in metals, herbs, material medica, and medicinal springs.
