- Title
BE-DOROTAV: NOAH'S "GENERATIONS" IN LIGHT OF ANTEDILUVIAN LONGEVITY.
- Authors
COHEN, JEFFREY M.
- Abstract
The article examines the Genesis 6:9 which states that Noah was a righteous man, perfect in his generation. It mentions the dispute between Rabbi Johanan and Resh Lakish. It states that their views share the same assumption that the phrase in his generation is superfluous. It adds that Johanan assumes to disparage a biblical figure praise by the Torah as righteous and perfect. It also analyzes these two assessments about Noah, inspired by the word be-dorotav.
