- Title
The Rich Man, Lazarus, and Doctrine & Covenants 104:18.
- Authors
Harper, Steven C.
- Abstract
The author comments on the 104:13-18 passage from "Doctrine and Covenants," which deals directly with consecration and with the ownership by God of all things on earth and the need for men to be responsible stewards. The passage also requires that rich people share their goods with poor people or face an eternity of damnation. A parallel of this passage and the story of Lazarus, which is found in the book of Luke in the Bible, is made. The translation of the word "rich" in Latin and Greek is discussed as is the Latin Vulgate Bible.
