- Abstract
Editorial Depressive disorders are highly prevalent and are associated with a substantial loss of quality of life for patients and their relatives, with increased levels of morbidity and mortality and with enormous economic costs. Prevention of the onset of depressive disorders is one of the most important possibilities for a further reduction of the disease burden of depression. The uptake of treatments for depression is low, with no more than half of those meeting criteria for depressive disorders receiving treatment, even in high-income countries.
