The article explores the linguistic landscape and urban developments in Skopje, Macedonia through postcard analysis. Topics discussed include the value of postcards as archival documents which may be used in studying urban growth and tourism in the region, the renaming of urban landscapes by its changing political regimes, and the colloquial language use observed in some postcards written by French soldiers in the early 1900s.
