- Title
INTO UNORTHODOX LONDON: THE RELIGIOUS ETHNOGRAPHY OF CHARLES MAURICE DAVIES.
- Authors
Dodsworth, Francis; Watson, Sophie
- Abstract
The article presents literary criticism of several books by Maurice Davies, including "Unorthodox London," "Heterodox London," and "Mystic London". According to the authors, Davies presented these books as ethnographic descriptions of existing religious communities made up of ordinary people, with the implication that attempts to rigidly control English religious life and practice were futile. It is suggested that the texts also reflect Davies' personal religious journey.
