- Title
Adapting Emma for the Twenty-first Century: An Emma No One Will Like.
- Authors
Kaplan, Laurie
- Abstract
The article focuses on adapting the novel "Emma," by Jane Austen, for film audiences of the 21st century. It cites the potential difficulty in capturing the novel on film because it contains the most mundane plot of the author. It asserts that the central consciousness of the book are being made indistinct by invented scenes and invented narrative, while the script appears created to make the viewer unsympathetic to main character Emma. It also cites the actors in both the minor and the major roles for this film who have been commended and criticised.
