- Title
Response to Hathaway.
- Authors
DeWind, Josh
- Abstract
The article features the author's view regarding James Hathaway's opinion on the unification of refugee and migration studies. The author reveals that Hathaway believes that the union would risk the protection of refugees. He added that Hathaway calls for the separation of refugee studies from the study of forced migration to ensure the specificity of refugees' circumstances and to protect their individual autonomy right. However, the author argues that Hathaway's opinion doesn't cover the issue of refugees forced to leave their homes due to human rights violations. He suggests that studies on refugee and migration should promote a single goal which is to improve the human rights and to strengthen refugee administration.
