- Abstract
The Spanish political crisis at the beginning of the nineteenthcentury triggered diverse reactions in the American colonies. For many living in the provinces of Buenos Aires and Córdoba, the situation offered an opportunity to break with the Old Regime and its institutions. This included the Inquisition, which was one of the most emblematic. This article analyses the attempt of the Constitutional Assembly to separate the comisarías from the Lima Tribunal. By examining this conflict, it is possible to overcome the scarcity of documentary sources in order to better understand the realities of these provinces during the revolutionary era.
