- Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to undertake an historical analysis of indigenous and peasant movements throughout the twentieth century in Mexico. The goal is to determine the moments of boom and reflux of the struggle of subaltern groups in the agrarian world and to identify the moments of change in the forms of their discontent. This overview will take a bird's eye view of the nation as a whole, and will point out regional variations as well. It will explore the relationsh between the agricultural sector --whether indigenous or peasant-- with regional powers and the state.
