- Abstract
Fluoride is an effective material in the prevention of dental caries, however, the search for the ideal protocol to remineralize an incipient lesion is still a matter of controversy. Objective: To evaluate the in vitro remineralization of enamel in primary teeth with oral rinse vs. varnish. Materials and methods: Experimental study In vitro, forty healthy primary teeth were divided into two control groups (Negative and positive) and two experimental groups (10 each). The experimental groups and positive control with demineralized enamel were exposed to two fluorinated products: Mouthwash vs. Varnish. The depth of the lesion was demonstrated with 50% silver nitrate. Results: The mouthwash group was more effective with an effect size of 0.43 Standard Deviations, with respect to the varnish. Conclusion: Both products showed a remineralizing effect, the children's oral rinse presented better efficacy with a statistically significant difference p = 0.002.
