- Abstract
Objective: to describe the experience in an outreach project on sexually transmitted infections in Quilombola Communities. Method: a descriptive study, based on a health education experience report, was carried out by nursing undergraduate and graduate professors and students in health and environment in five Quilombola communities, with a sample of 111 participants. Results: 100% of the sample was reached, and evidenced the interaction and exchange of knowledge among students, professors and population with reports of satisfaction among the participants. Socio-educational and preventive work was developed for providing changes of attitudes and behaviors in the communities involved. Conclusion: this experience contributed to the education of students and population awareness, in the interdisciplinary perspective. The establishment of public policies that integrate the health and education areas in Quilombola communities is imperative, given the social vulnerability of their population.
