- Title
Organometallic reagents: Deconstructing THF.
- Authors
Clayden, Jonathan
- Abstract
The article offers information on the study by Rab Mulvey and colleagues at the Strathclyde University in Glasgow, Scotland on the deconstruction of the cyclic ether tetrahydrofuran (THF). It says that four successive protons can be removed from THF by switching the zinc atom into magnesium or manganese. It says that butadienyl fragment has arised from THF which is confirmed by the presence of deuterated butadienyl products under nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy.
