- Abstract
Objective: To verify the use of physical therapy and rehabilitation of patients with fibromyalgia. Methods: This is an integrative literature review, with the search for articles carried out in March and April 2020, in the electronic databases Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro) and PubMed, using the descriptors indexed in the Health Science Descriptors (DeCS) and in Medical Subject Headings (MeSH). Inclusion criteria were studies with observational and interventional approaches, published between 2010 and 2020, available in full text in Portuguese and English. Review articles, event proceedings, dissertations, theses and duplicate publications were excluded. Results: 27 articles were found. After reading the titles and abstracts, we selected eight studies for reading in full and included in this review. In addition to pain relief, it was observed the effects of water on variables that optimize function and increase quality of life. Conclusion: The use of aquatic therapy in the rehabilitation of patients with fibromyalgia promotes beneficial effects such as pain relief, among other benefits, having a positive impact in quality of life.
