- Authors
CANNON, II, KENNETH L.
- Abstract
The article discusses the Union Train Depot in Provo, Utah and the controversy caused by its construction. Passenger lines that traveled through Provo included the Rio Grande Western (RGW), the Union Pacific, and the Oregon Short Line. The author explains that the heads of several railroads argued over where the depot should be constructed. The involvement of businessman and Provo Mayor Thomas N. Taylor is talked about. The article also discusses a civilian petition to build a new depot. How the location of a new depot became a major political issue in the 1905 municipal elections is examined.
