The article discusses the benefits of adopting the precision medicine model including improved management of patients with life-threatening illnesses. The technology elements needed to ensure the success of the model are noted, including collaboration between clinicians and researchers and structural data models. Other topics discussed include the generation of raw data through whole genome sequencing and the Cancer MoonShot program of the U.S. government's Precision Medicine Initiative.
