- Abstract
This article discusses the use of subcutaneous immunoglobulin (SCIG) as a potential treatment for calcinosis associated with juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM). Calcinosis is a complication of JDM characterized by the abnormal deposition of calcium salts in tissues. The article presents two cases of patients with refractory JDM-associated calcinosis who showed significant improvement with SCIG treatment. SCIG has been shown to have local immunomodulatory effects and may prevent complications such as skin ulceration and infection. Further research is needed to develop evidence-based treatment guidelines for calcinosis.
