An editorial is presented on Cardiovascular risk associated with allopurinol vs. benzbromarone in patients with gout. Topics include uric acid (UA) being the final product of purine metabolism and increasing in the circulating blood defining the presence of hyperuricaemia; and mixing evidence for supporting gout as independent risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD).
