In the article, the author discusses research developments in petroleum and natural gas industries as of early 2012. He focuses on the work at the U.S. Bureau of Economic Geology, particularly on the study of oil-storage mechanisms and oil saturation at the Bakken and Eagle Ford Formations. He cites the bureau's Gas Geochemistry Laboratory as the one responsible in the study.
