- Authors
Renaud, Etienne B.
- Abstract
The article discusses the evolution of archaeological nomenclature for classifying projectile points, focusing on Folsom and Yuma types which were found in the American Southwest. The Yuma types were named after the county of Yuma, Colorado, where many were discovered. The author mentions that his paper, titled "The First Thousand Yuma-Folsom Artifacts," was published in October 1934, and constituted the first major survey of such items. Some of the distinguishing characteristics of the various types are discussed, such as the fluting and convex edges of Clovis points.
